Prenatal development is when a baby develops from a single cell after conception into an embryo and then a fetus. Fertilization happens during the germinal stage, then moves on to the embryonic stage, then to the fetal stage.
The embryonic stage is around 2-8 weeks after conception, where the embryo is formed. This is the most crucial period for the baby in the womb.
Next is the fetal stage. The fetal stage occurs from 8 weeks from conception until birth. During the fetal stage, the embryo turns into a fetus. The fetus develops skeletal growth and bone and brain development.
Then, finally, birth! Another word for this stage is neonate. The baby shows reflexes and starts its bonding with others.
As the child grows, it then goes through infant and toddler development. This is when the child develops and uses their physical senses and starts creating developmental milestones using their gross and fine motor skills.
Next is child development. This is where language development and overall body and reproductive growth occurs. This is also where obesity can start.
I want to teach early elementary schoolers, so this is where they will be in life and knowing more about this will help me to better understand them and be on their level.
After this is adolescent development. This is when children start to go through puberty and have physical changes from it. Adolescences starts when puberty beings and ends when the child is fully an 'adult'. There are three different body types that a person can have and develop during this stage: ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph. There are also more big brain developments during this time too.
I'm in between the adolescent and adulthood stage right now. I'm 18, so I'm pretty much fully development, but I haven't started to go through the negative effects of adulthood quite yet (thankfully lol)!
Then finally comes adulthood! During adulthood, the skin changes. Most people start to have bone loss and breathing capacity decreases. Adults also go through cognitive changes like not being able to hear and see as well.
